mass localism

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

the innovation agency in uk has published a report on mass localism – how to encourage widespread, high quality local responses to big challenges (from tackling climate change to improving public health). a very interesting read, which may inspire research proposals of real impact – pdf.

Example: The Green Valleys project has established 13 town and village community groups focused on developing a variety of different carbon reducing activities, including electric vehicle trials, cultivating allotments, art projects, energy advice surgeries and woodland fuel schemes.
